Archery association to focus on setting up clubs in schools

KAPIT: The Kapit Division Archery Association will focus on setting up archery clubs in schools here this year.

Association president Ting King Yiing said SMK Kapit, SJK Hock Lam and SMK Selirik have agreed to set up archery clubs.

The club at SMK Kapit will be the first to begin, with more than 60 students attending the first training session last week.

“The association managed to organise its first archery competition in December last year in Kapit and this year, three members represented Kapit during a competition in Sibu. On the 26th of this month, another group will be representing Kapit to go to Kuching to compete with the Kuching archers,” he said during the association’s annual general meeting recently.

Joining Ting on the committee are deputy president councillor Chu Sing Lung, vice-president Kong Shin Hou, secretary Wong Chong Wei, vice-secretary Mohd Hairol Hafifi Hussin, treasurer Young Hsien Ping and vice-treasurer Sng Hui Perng.

Also on the committee are ordinary members Kong Sing Ngie, Kong Kah Sui, Ling Bee Chong and Ivy Tiong.

The association’s advisors are Datuk Yong Hua Sying and Tiong Ping.
