SEMPORNA: Two men were killed in an accident after the Perodua Kancil car they were travelling in from Tawau heading to Semporna went out of control and collided with a Mitsubishi four-wheel-drive vehicle from the opposite lane.

District police chief Superintendent Peter Umbuas said the accident happened at about 7am at KM 15, Semporna-Tawau road yesterday.

The driver of the Perodua Kancil, Omar Bin Landasung, 48, and a passenger who have no personal documents, died on the spot. The 53-year-old Mitsubishi driver escaped unhurt.

Peter said the Mitsubishi driver was trying to escape from colliding with the Perodua Kancil but was unable to due to insufficient distance.

Both vehicles skidded to the left side of the road shoulder after the collision.

“The police will investigate this case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he added.
