KOTA KINABALU: A local tourist was rescued by the Mountain Search and Rescue (MOSAR) team while climbing Mount Kinabalu yesterday.

Anita Osoi, 32, was taken by piggy-back down the mountain by the MOSAR team after she reportedly felt numbness and stiffening of her left foot while resting at Laban Rata Rest house at around 10 am.

A spokesperson from the State Fire and Rescue Services Department said that the Ranau Fire and Rescue station received information of the incident at 10.30 am and three members of the MOSAR team with the help of two Kinabalu Park rangers came to the woman’s aid.

“After attending to the victim, the three MOSAR personnel with the help of two Kinabalu Park rangers carried the injured woman down the mountain, reaching the Park office by around 1.45 pm.

“The victim was then transported to the Ranau Hospital for outpatient treatment,” said the spokesperson.

No untoward incident was reported while the State Fire and Rescue Services Department also thanked the Kinabalu Park rangers for their assistance.
