SIBU: For building a better heroes’ monument in Kanowit, Malaysia Ex-Police Association (PBPM), Kanowit branch has been given an additional allocation of RM50,000.

Assistant Minister of Tourism and Land Development (Products and Events) Datuk Gramong Juna announced the allocation at the branch’s 14th annual general meeting at Kanowit District Office yesterday.

He said: “The government will always appreciate the contribution made by warriors who had sacrificed their lives in safeguarding peace and sovereignty of the nation.”

He said the heroes’ monument would reflect the history of Kanowit District and enable the young generation to remember the sacrifices made by the people who came before them.

Earlier, branch chairman Liew Tubow said the application for the additional allocation was a follow-up discussion with the contractor who said that the initial allocation of RM50,000 from Gramong was not enough.

“Because of that, the PBPM Kanowit made a further application for an additional grant and thus making it to a total of RM100,000,” he said.

On the development in Kanowit District, Gramong said he had high hopes that the local communities would render their full support to the Barisan Nasional (BN) government so that there would be perpetual development.

“I hope the people, particularly the voters, could remember the good deeds of the government by giving their solid support to the BN candidate Allan Siden Gramong in Machan,” he said.
