BINTULU: Opposition parties will surely not give more autonomy to Sarawak if they govern the state, says Assistant Minister of Tourism Datuk Talib Zulpilip.

According to him, only the state Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties are capable of protecting the rights of Sarawakians.

The Jepak assemblyman said this when launching the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Jepak election machinery themed ‘Bersama Meniti Perjuangan Mendukung Satu Matlamat’ at the civic centre here recently.

He said Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem ought to be given five more years to continue governing and developing Sarawak in harmony.

“In the past two years, the chief minister made many achievements, with one objective which is to bring more development to Sarawak,” said the PBB vice-president.

The Jepak incumbent acknowledged that the fight in the coming state election would not be easy but said if the various BN election machinery can stand united, the challenge and difficulties can be overcome.

He reminded the people to reject the opposition political parties from Peninsular Malaysia, whom he said only brought political extremism.

“Our uniqueness is we are living together in harmony. It will not be easy to control if there are too many extremists. This will only jeopardise the future of our young generation,” he added.

Sarawak under the capable BN government had enjoyed much progress, he added.

The opposition, he said, lied when they claimed that Sarawak lacked development when in reality, the BN government had brought many positive changes.

“Please don’t bring the culture of hatred, it is an unhealthy practice and we Sarawakians will not welcome such culture into our beloved state,” said Talib.

He thus urged his election machinery to get ready and work hard to ensure a big win for BN in the 11th state election.
