KUCHING: Amanah Khairat Yayasan Budaya Melayu Sarawak (AKYBMS) held a rebranding ceremony and launched the Sarawak Malays Strategic Plan (PSMS) 2035 yesterday.

Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem said the initiatives would benefit Malay Muslims in the state.

“Things have changed in terms of education, technology and economy.

“The political scenario has also changed, which makes it very relevant for AKYBMS to be rebranded and for a proper strategic plan.

“This will prepare the community (Malays) for future challenges,” he said.

Adenan’s text-of-speech was read out by Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

The chief minister also urged the Malays not to be caught by the racial politics that had crept into Sarawak’s shores.

“We (Malays) need to be united.

Strengthen the unity that has been cultivated by our past leaders who have sacrificed their lives and time.

“We need to work with other communities, irrespective of religious beliefs, cultures and backgrounds.

That is our pillar of strength.” Meanwhile, AKYBMS deputy chairman Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais said AKYBMS would have its own complex on a five-acre plot in Petra Jaya soon.

Others present at the event were Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) chairman Datuk Talip Zulpilip and BN candidate for Kalaka Datuk Abdul Wahab Aziz.
