KUALA LUMPUR: Packet One Networks (M) Sdn Bhd (P1), now known as Webe, plans to leverage on Telekom Malaysia Bhd’s (TM) customer base to strengthen its position in the market.

Its Chief Executive Officer, Puan Chan Cheong, said the digital mobility services provider was expected to unveil its rebranding strategy and services later this year as it was currently undertaking internal user testing.

According to a report, TM’s existing broadband customers as at Dec 31, 2015 stood at 2.34 million.

“Webe is now focusing on the 4th Generation Long-Term Evolution rollout and the upgrading of our network as we will be launching our product soon,” he told reporters at the launch of Webe community showcase yesterday.

Puan said Webe had earlier signed investment agreements with TM, Green Packet Bhd and SK Telecom Co Ltd, which saw these giant telecommunication  companies (telcos) injecting RM2 billion into Webe.

TM currently holds 72.9 per cent stake in P1, and the inclusion of the latter into TM would complete the telco giant’s full service offerings.

According to a research house, the potential revenue contribution from P1 to TM would be RM17.1 million.

Meanwhile, the company today launched its Webe community and injected RM1.2 million into its seven projects, ranging from entertainment to education, to create better Malaysia.
