SEMPORNA: The Island Force Operation Base on Pulau Mabul (formerly known as Mabul Police Station) is the first such police station in the country to use hybrid technology to get its electricity supply.

With this technology, which involves the use of solar energy, the base now enjoys a 75 percent savings in electricity consumption.

Speaking at the launch of the facility here yesterday, the director of the Federal Police Management Department, Datuk Seri Zulkifli Abdullah said the project shows that the police force is concerned about the welfare of its staff on the island.

“I hope that with this facility, it would boost the spirit of the police,” he said.

Zulkifli also expressed his appreciation and thanks to Telekom Malaysia for giving its full cooperation in the project.

Also present at the ceremony were Sabah Police Management Department Chief SAC Omar Mamah, Sabah Marine Police Force Commander ACP Mohamad Madun, Semporna District Police Chief Supt Peter Ambuas, senior police officers from Sabah Police headquarters as well as representatives of TM.

Peter said the electricity generated at the police station had been used by 150 people since late December 2015.
