Undesirable mentalities when job-seeking

0

IN this competitive era, faced with strong and compatible competitors, you have to prepare well in order to be successful when job-seeking.

It is imperative that you have to be mentally-prepared so that you can get rid of all kinds of disturbances and overcome the emotional stress that comes along with job-seeking.

Here are some undesirable mentalities that might hinder you in the job-seeking process.

Indecisiveness

When it comes to job-seeking, you have to be firm and sure about your choice. List down your priorities – what job is the most desired, which job is second best, etc. You have to be prepared to settle for the second or third best if your first choice is not granted.

Those who are unsure of what they want often find it hard to make any decision. They have impractical expectations and insist on waiting for another better deal to come by when they have been given an offer. They keep waiting for one offer after another and in the end; they end up missing all the boats.

These individuals need to learn when it comes to compromise, otherwise chances will slip by and they would keep missing the opportunities because they cannot make a firm decision.

Overly-confident

These individuals think too highly of themselves and set high and unrealistic expectations. They think that they come from prestigious universities and have good academic results and would be in high demand.

So they ask for sky-high salaries and benefits, thinking that they deserve them. The truth is in the eyes of the employers, they are inexperienced and impractical.

As a result, they would often fail to get any offer as nobody would employ this group of individuals for the high salary they demand. They may be good but not good enough yet to demand for such high pay.

Stubborn and inflexible

Some individuals are inflexible when it comes to job-seeking. They would only stick to one field and refuse to venture into another unknown area.

Ideally you should get a job that matches your skills or area of interest. However, when you have attempted for a long time and still fail to get a job that is related to your skills, you should have the flexibility to venture into some other fields as long as they provide the room to grow and progress.

It is better for you to gain some experience and pick up other skills rather than sitting idle and waiting for the right job to land on your lap.

Hence, when you have already tried so hard but are still unable to get into the desired field, you need to consider the situation and steer the wheel a bit to venture out to other directions.

Feeling unappreciated

There are some individuals who often feel that they are not appreciated for what they are worth. They often feel that everyone or society owes them.

They feel that they are very talented but others are not able to see their talent and potential. Hence, they lament all the time and feel that the world owes them a chance to show their capabilities.

Due to their feeling of superiority, they would most unlikely get any job offer. And this would lead them to feel even more unappreciated.

These individuals need to face the truth and see themselves for who they really are. Otherwise, they would keep living in their unrealistic world and fail to be in touch with society.
