SIBU: A family of three were killed on the spot after the car they were travelling in crashed head-on with a four-wheel-drive vehicle at Salim Road today (April 22).
The deceased are driver Sii Toh Chin, 41, his wife Leong Soew Chiang, 35, and their five-year-old daughter Helen Sii.
The 1.30pm tragedy occurred when Toh Chin lost control of his car, causing it to veer into the opposite lane, colliding with the oncoming vehicle.
The family was heading towards town from their house in Stabau.
The 44-year-old driver of the 4WD vehicle was a resident of a longhouse, also in Stabau.
Both police and Fire and Rescue Department personnel rushed to the scene after they were informed, extricating the bodies of the victims before sending them to the hospital mortuary.
