SIBU: Pelawan PBB Youth has lodged a police report against a Malaysiakini reporter here on her report about the speech delivered by Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Nangka, Dr Annuar Rapaee, on Thursday.

PBB Bandong Youth chief Mohamad Junaidi Sambang, in a report lodged at noon yesterday, claimed that Dr Annuar’s words were deliberately twisted to hurt the unity and harmony of Sarawakians.

He said his PBB Youth section lodged the report because they wanted the police and the Malaysia Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to investigate on such ‘distortion’ in order to protect Sarawak.

“We do not want such extremism being imported into Sarawak. We hope the authorities would look into this case and bar extremists, including the reporter, from entering Sarawak.”

Mohamad Junaidi said the Malaysiakini writer had quoted Dr Annuar as saying that “Muslims in Sarawak should vote BN in the state election on May 7 so that a Muslim leader can continue to lead Sarawak government.”

He said Dr Annuar’s words during the Nangka BN machinery meeting on Thursday had been twisted, adding that the report was further distorted to emphasise state BN chief Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem as a Muslim chief minister.

Mohamad Junaidi saw the report as carrying a racism element, with malicious intention towards the BN candidate (Dr Annuar).

In his police report, he wanted police and the MCMC to act against the reporter under Sedition Act and send her back to Peninsular Malaysia.

After lodging the report, Mohamad Junaidi said: “Sarawak will not accept such racism statement. The policy of Sarawak is governed by peace, harmony and unity of the people.”

Mohamad Junaidi was accompanied by five PBB Youth members in lodging the report yesterday.
