KUCHING: A motorist was horrified to find that the fuel he had topped up at a petrol station along Kuching by-pass road had been tainted with water on Friday.

The man found his car vibrating uncontrollably, coupled with noise not long after he pumped in the petrol.

The intense shakes made him think there was something wrong with the engine, as if it was about to explode.

Terrified with the ordeal, he went to a workshop.

The mechanic could not find any fault with the engine but when the petrol was sucked out, they found it was mixed with water.

The car owner then took a photo of the tainted petrol and shared in a group chat on social media that night.

When contacted by The Borneo Post on Saturday, Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK) deputy director Abdul Hafidz A Rahim urged the car owner to make an official complaint on the ministry’s website.

“We do not know what actually happened and what the cause was. We do not know if the petrol station concerned did it on purpose or if the car engine had experienced some kind of leakage that led the petrol to be tainted with water.

“I urge the person to fill in all the details in the e-form in the ‘eaduan.kpdnkk.gov.my’ website,” he said, adding they have not received any such complaint yet.

However, he said they would look into this matter.
