SIBU: It is a heart-to-heart endorsement with the people as Pelawan direct BN candidate Kapitan Datuk Janet Lau assured she would give whole-hearted service to uplift living standard in the constituency.

Speaking at her ceramah at Pahlawan Road Saturday night, Lau called for team work, asking the people to give her their hearts too so that they could collectively create a better Pelawan.

She said she already had an affection with the constituency as she had been serving there for three decades when her husband, the late Datuk Robert Lau, was Sibu MP.

She said she was so familiar with the constituency that she knew the needs of the people.

“Politics is about management of affairs that is to be followed by actions.

“Just sitting there criticising will not get the jobs done, like what was happening last five years. We want to see Pelawan continue booming.”

She said it was for this reason she decided to make a comeback after Pelawan fell into the hands of the opposition and she had not seen anything constructively done by the DAP.

She appealed to the voters: “Work with me and I shall give my whole-hearted service. There are so much to be done in Pelawan – problems that residents face, education development and others.”

She said development and upgrading works in Pelawan had been drawn up and the people must move forward together.

“Among them, I see the urgent need to upgrade Ling Kai Cheng Road and its traffic flow.

“This is an age of modern technology. We have ways to improve them.”

Lau stressed she was in Team Adenan and the chief minister had proven himself to be a man of positive action with the people at heart.

She assured they would walk the talk together.

In her election leaflet she gives out nightly, Lau also listed a few of other duties to be fulfilled by the government.

“This includes working for Sarawak autonomy, safeguarding religious freedom, setting up training centre for people with special needs, caring for the aged, etc.”

She noted that DAP had been calling for change.

“But, what change have they brought? It is only Adenan who has brought real changes to Sarawak.”
