KUCHING: An electronic waste (e-waste) collection will be held on Sunday from 11am to 3pm at the Saberkas ICT Fair Kuching at Wisma Saberkas here.

A signboard put up by its organiser Kuching Computer Business Association (KCBA) will show the exact location of the dropping point for electronic waste materials which can be things like out-of-date IT assets, TV sets, and other electronic or electric devices and appliances.

The ICT fair starts today and will go on until Sunday. Opening hours are from 11am to 9pm. A press release from KCBA says they have been holding the electronic collection during ICT Expo since 2008 with the objective of reducing the amount of e-waste going to landfills and at the same time help the public  dispose of their electronic junk in an environmental-friendly way.

It said the organiser works with a local recycle company approved by the Department of Environment to buy up the e-waste collected which would then be recycled and the useful parts reused. Money collected from this effort will be donated to the Malaysian Red Crescent, Stampin Chapter to support its blood donation programme.

The organiser, it added, also considers assisting corporate bodies or companies to dispose of their volume e-waste that has been occupying their store space. For this, they can e-mail the organiser at [email protected] for collection arrangement after the ICT Expo event.

KCBA requests public support in this drive.
