KOTA KINABALU: Astro First Exclusive will be airing a play featuring the depressing life story of four youths living in Kuala Lumpur entitled “Hey Orang Kita” beginning May 19.

The telenovela type film directed by Sabahan Zara Kahan will be featured at the Astro First Ekslusif (Channel 480).

The stars of the film are newbies in the film industry but are already known among YouTube fans and other social media for their artistic endeavors.

They comprise Raja Syahiran, Talitha Tan, Christian B. Palencia and Takahara Suiko who play Hassan, Lilian, Clayton and Hartini, respectively.

Two of the stars of the 90 minutes film, Talitha and Christian, were recently here to say hello to media practitioners and bloggers. Christian, a Sabahan who has been residing in Kuala Lumpur since he was nine years old, said that he struggled with the Sabahan accent he had to acquire and be effective in the role he played which was Clayton.

He added that his sister helped him acquire the Sabahan accent although he felt that he still needed to do a lot of work to improve it.

“She (his sister) laughed when I was trying to speak the Sabahan accent,” he said.

He said that he hoped the film would become a full-fledged series.

“I really had a good time playing the character,” he said.

Talitha, who in real life has a bubbly personality played Lilian, the sad doe-eyed girl, who was infatuated with her childhood friend after she was abandoned by her mother, shared that she was really tired of the filming schedule but expressed that she enjoyed the experience thoroughly.

“It was my first time acting and the director really knew what she wanted us to do…it was tiring but at the same time, it felt more like a gathering of friends than working,” she said.

‘Hey Orang Kita’ is available at RM15.90 (including GST) from the Astro First Eksklusif channel starting May 19.
