MIRI: The Miri District Community Leaders’ Service Centre here is ever ready to serve the people from various races.

Assistant Minister for Tourism Datuk Lee Kim Shin wants the people to fully utilise the facility, which is provided by the government.

“If the people need any help from the community leaders, just come over to the service centre which is located behind the Miri Resident building during office hours,” he told reporters after presenting the certificate of service extension as Temenggong to Dato Sri Lee Sie Tong at Miri Resident’s Office recently.

Lee, who is also Senadin assemblyman, noted that the service centre had full time staff to manage office operations and arrangement of appointments between the community leaders and the people, as well as government departments.

Commenting on the role of community leaders, he said they should continue to act as a bridge between the people at grassroots level and the government.

Congratulating Temenggong Lee whose service had been extended by another two years, the assistant minister said as head of the Chinese community, he had been instrumental in getting the community to support the Barisan Nasional (BN) government.

Also present were Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting, chairman of SUPP Pujut Adam Yii, social administrative officer for Miri Resident’s Office Masnona Abdul Kadir and representative of Miri District Officer Joseph Jerun.
