KUALA KANGSAR: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, on behalf of the state government, handed over a letter of appreciation and contribution to Datin Mastura Mohd Yazid, widow of Datuk Wan Mohammad Khairil Anuar Wan Ahmad who perished in a helicopter tragedy in Sebuyau on May 5.

A press statement issued yesterday said the contribution came from the Sarawak government and Sarawak Legislative Assembly. Also present during the simple handover ceremony at Mastura’s residence was Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Nancy Shukri.

Mastura has been picked Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Kuala Kangsar Parliamentary By-election on June 18. Uggah then proceeded to attend the Program Helo Komoditi Kuala Kangsar officiated by Nancy who is Acting Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities.

In his speech, Uggah paid tribute to the late Wan Mohammad who came to assist with campaigning during the recent state election to ensure a big victory for Barisan Nasional. He said Wan Mohammad, in his capacity as Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) chairman, was also noted for his efforts to assist oil palm smallholders in the country.

“He was very committed to his work. His contributions in helping smallholders will always be remembered,” Uggah said.
