Key defender poised for Super League action

KUCHING: Good news for Sarawak fans as defender Ronny Harun is expected to be back in action when the Super League resumes next month.

According to coach David Usop, Ronny is back in training but the team will not risk rushing him to play too soon.

Ronny has out of action since March after suffering a hairline fracture on the right foot during the Super League match against Selangor at Shah Alam.

“Having Ronny not injured is vital for the team at the moment especially when we have one defender less after the departure of the Crocs’ former import defender Davide Grassi. We have limited options at the moment,” David said.

Ronny, the Sabah-born from Sipitang, is considered “80 per cent” recovered from his injury, according to coach David.

Recently, Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) have revealed that the potential replacement(s) for Grassi have been identified.

A few import players are expected to arrive soon for trials.

Meanwhile, David added that the Crocs will travel to Peninsular Malaysia for warm-up and friendly matches against Selangor PKNS and KL this month.

For the upcoming 18th Sukma in July, three youngsters in the squad – Nur Shamie Iszuan Amin, Tommy Mawat Bada and Rodney Celvin – are preparing to represent Sarawak.
