Over half of physical projects under 10 MP in Sarawak completed – Wong

A TOTAL of 267 out of 409 state-funded physical projects under the 10th Malaysia Plan (10MP) in Sarawak have been completed, with the remaining 142 still in various stages of implementation.

According to Second Finance Minister Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh, some of the ongoing projects are scheduled for completion this year, while the implementation of the rest should continue into the 11MP.

Additionally for the period ended Dec 31 last year, the state incurred a cumulative expenditure of RM16.5 billion — 89.2 per cent against the 10MP ceiling of RM18.5 billion.

“For state-funded projects under 10MP for the period between 2011 and 2015, a total of 1,124 projects with a ceiling of RM18.5 billion had been approved for implementation. Out of the 1,124, 409 were physical projects while the remaining 715 were non-physical projects comprising grants, contributions, investments and programmes,” Wong said in delivering his ministerial winding-up speech at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting yesterday.

Under the state-funded 11th MP projects, a total of 890 projects with a ceiling of RM20 billion have been approved for implementation for the 2016-2020 period and of the total, 411 are physical projects and 479 non-physical ones.

Wong disclosed that as at March 31 this year, 31 projects — or 7.5 per cent — out of 411 physical projects had been completed, while the remaining 380 were in various stages of implementation.

For the period ended March this year, the state incurred an expenditure of RM850 million — 14.4 per cent of the total 2016 allocation of RM6 billion.

On federal-funded projects, Wong said 1,445 projects were approved under 10MP. As at Dec 31 last year, 1,090 projects — or 75.4 per cent — of total projects had been completed. The remaining 355 projects, or 24.6 per cent, are still in various stages of implementation.

For the period ended Dec 31, 2015, Wong said the cumulative expenditure for federal-funded projects was at RM13.32 billion — 73.3 per cent of the total allocation of RM18.18 billion.

On the performance of federal-funded projects in the state under 11MP, Wong reported that 472 projects had been approved for implementation under the first rolling plan.

As at April this year, 17 projects (or four per cent) of total projects had been completed, with the remaining 455 projects (or 96 per cent) in various stages of implementation.

The cumulative expenditure for the period ended April this year, RM221.7 million (or 5.5 per cent) out of the total RM4.05 billion in allocation had been spent, Wong added.
