MIRI: Ten people, promised jobs in Myanmar, claimed they were cheated by a woman over the offshore jobs.

All the victims filed police reports yesterday morning at Miri central police station (CPS) after they failed to reach the woman over the phone.

It was learnt that the victims had banked RM2,750 into the woman’s account purportedly to process their work visas in Myanmar.

“The woman asked us to bank in cash, RM275 per person, so that she could proceed to secure our (work) visa for the job,” said one of the victims when met by The Borneo Post.

He added that the woman told him that there were two groups scheduled for work deployment to Myanmar.

“I was in the first group to be deployed on June 16, the second would be on June 23,” he added.

Unfortunately, as the days went by, “they have yet to give us any updates”.

Fearing that they have fallen prey to a job scam, the ten decided to lodged police reports.
