KUCHING: Police recovered luxury wristwatches and over a dozen car keys following the arrest of two men suspected of being involved in vehicle thefts and vehicle break-ins.

The 21- and 23-year-old suspects, who hail from Kampung Kopit in Siniawan, Bau were nabbed around 3.30pm

Thursday during a police raid of a house at Jalan Stephen Yong here.

District police chief ACP Abang Ahmad Abang Julai, who confirmed the arrests, said the raid was conducted based on information gathered from the public. “A joint CID team from Kuching and Bau district police headquarters, led by Inspector Alias Nen, arrested the duo following a tip-off and recovered several suspected stolen items which included luxury wristwatches.

“The raiding party also found a bag in the house containing tools believed used to break into vehicles and to commit vehicle theft,” he said when contacted yesterday.

Apart from the tools, police found over a dozen different car keys believed to have been used by the suspects to steal cars.

A Perodua Myvi car parked at the house was also seized for investigation. Subsequent checks found that both men have no criminal records, although they tested positive for drugs. The suspects have been remanded for further investigation.
