KUCHING: The Hari Raya open house of Works Minister Datuk Seri  Fadillah Yusof and wife Datin Seri Ruziah Mohd Tahir was an occasion for people from various cultures to come together.

People flocked to his residence at Jalan Sultan Tengah here since 11am yesterday.

Among the dignitaries were Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem and wife Datin Patinggi Datuk Jamilah Anu, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Nancy Shukri, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg and wife Datin Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and wife Datin Amar Doreen Lee, Assistant Land and Air Transportation and Safety Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin, Local Government Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian, former Deputy Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang and wife Dato Sri Empiang Jabu, Assistant Early Childhood and Family Development Minister Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, Kota Samarahan MP Rubiah Wang and Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang.

“I did not expect such a huge turnout. This shows the uniqueness of our multi-faith community in which festivals such as Aidilfitri bring families, friends and even strangers together,” he said.

“This is the strength of Sarawak where people in our diverse community accept one another, and value our friendship and ties, even our friends from Peninsula Malaysia.”

Fadillah thanked the community and the committee of the P194 Petra Jaya parliamentary constituency for making the Aidilfitri celebration vibrant and infusing it with the spirit of unity.
