Indonesian dies two days after accident

TAWAU: A 34-year-old Indonesian woman succumbed to her injuries yesterday, two days after an accident involving a trailer and an Isuzu D-Max at Kilometer 43 Tawau-Kalabakan Road.

District police chief ACP Fadil Marsus said Lince Petrus suffered severe injuries on the head and her right hand was severed in the accident which occurred about 9am.

He said the victim died yesterday at Tawau Hospital about 11am.

Fadil said the Isuzu driver, coming from Kalabakan, had failed to control the vehicle at a corner after he had fallen asleep causing it to crash into the trailer.

He added that the Isuzu driver, a 26-year-old man without any identification documents and driving license and the trailer driver, a 58-year-old man, were not injured.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
