Three fatal accidents during Raya in Labuan

LABUAN: Less than a week of Aidilfitri celebrations, Labuan has recorded three fatal cases involving motorcyclists.

The accidents occurred on the second day of Hari Raya, Saturday and yesterday.

On July 7, a teenager was killed when his motorcycle skidded and crashed in Jalan Tg Batu near the Labuan Golf Club junction.

Mohd Syazirul Ashroff Zulkifli, 19, from Kuala Penyu, Sabah died on the spot about 12.30pm.

Labuan police chief Supt Adzhar Othman said yesterday, initial investigations revealed reckless driving caused his death.

Two days later, a man was killed when he was hit by a van at Jalan OKK Abdullah near the Jalan Masjid junction after he had performed ‘solat’.

Abd Rajik Razak, who sustained head injuries was pronounced dead about 8.30pm.

At 1.45am yesterday, a motorcyclist who was believed to have been drunk was killed on the spot when he crashed by the road-shoulder near the Labuan International Sport Complex.

He sustained head injuries and leg fractures.

“We feel sad over the accidents as the victims were to have been with their families during the Hari Raya,” Adzhar told Bernama.
