28-year-old flung from car in fatal accident

MIRI: A 28-year-old man died on the spot after the car he was driving rammed into a protective wall of a concrete bridge in Bakam at about 8.10am today.

The victim, identified as S’ng Yee Siong of Tukau, Bakam sustained serious injuries to his body and head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is learnt that the victim, who was travelling alone in the ill-fated Proton Saga, had lost control of his vehicle along the two-lane Jalan Luak roadway, causing him to ram into the bridge wall.

The car was then said to have flipped a few times, causing the victim to be flung from the vehicle.

Other motorists who saw the incident immediately pulled over and contacted paramedics from Miri Hospital who pronounced the victim dead upon arriving at the scene.

Police are investigating.
