MARUDI: Dato Gerawat Gala, the Mulu assemblyman, yesterday attended a meeting of the District Action Committee (DAC) for Mulu to get an update on the various development plans for his constituency.

It was also an opportunity for him to get to know heads of the government departments and agencies serving the constituency.

During the meeting, the Deputy Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly outlined his vision for Mulu constituency, such as the building and provision of roads, electricity, water supply, telecommunication facilities and amenities and major projects to improve the lives of the constituents.

He proposed that a central ‘tamu’ be built at Poyut/Lubok Nibong area as a place for locals to sell their agricultural produce and handicraft.

He described Mulu as unique because it is under three district offices – Marudi District Office, Miri District Office and Telang Usan District Office.

Meanwhile, he conveyed his congratulations to the new line-up of councillors for Miri City Council (MCC) and Marudi District Council (MDC).

Present were Marudi district officer Mackos Sibong, political secretary to the chief minister Robert Laing Anyie, information officer Joseph James, MDC secretary Petrick Linggi Taboh and education officer Jalong Wan.
