KUCHING: Samling Group contributed RM40,000 to support the Kuching Festival Food Fair 2016 yesterday as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR).

Executive director Adrian Ching and chief operating officer James Ho handed over the contribution to Kuching South Mayor Datuk James Chan.

Ching said the company recognised the importance of giving back to the community through people-centric programmes.

“We are committed to do as much as we can in terms of CSR to share and support the people of Sarawak,” he said.

“This is the first initiative for our company, which is based in Miri, and we hope to see more of such engagement in the future to do more for our people.”

Chan said the contribution would be used to ensure the smooth running of the Kuching Festival, which started last Friday.

“We welcome and are thankful for all the sponsorship from the private sector that not only helps to promote their businesses but also facilitates our efforts to create a more vibrant and exciting event for the people,” he said.

“Over the years, we have always tried to make improvements for the Kuching Festival to provide our people as well as visitors and tourists from outside with the most amazing experience.”
