KUCHING: Taiwan’s leading rugby club Muwaku RFC beat Kuching RFC Balckcatz during their recent five-day visit to Sarawak.

But it was a clash of veterans with 20-minutes each half and a 10-minute interval. The visitors comprised 27 players aged 50 -70 and eight family members.

Boosted by three months of training they jumped to a 21-0 first half lead via three tries and three conversions.

The homesters, who also fielded players of the same age group, only found their rhythm in the second half replying through two tries by Louis Simon Peter and one more from former KRFC president Azlan Borhan.

Ejam Murni successfully converted two out of three conversions awarded.

With Muwaku still ahead 21-19, both sides threw in their reserves and the visitors eventually walked off 33-19 victors.

The oldest Blackcatz Dick Bentham played the full length of the match.

Hamizan Rosli was the match official of the day.
