Water supply back at Sri Wangi Apartment

KUCHING: Water supply to Sri Wangi Apartment at Jalan Matang here is back to normal after experiencing disruption for a week.

Chief executive officer of Housing Development Corporation (HDC), Wan Mohd Yusop Wan Moss, said after receiving the new water pumps, which were ordered from Peninsular Malaysia on Aug 2, their maintenance team immediately went there to replace the spoiled water pumps.

“After the new water pumps were installed and commissioned on Tuesday, the water supply has returned to normal,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Residents of Sri Wangi Apartment have been crying foul over their ‘dry taps’ since July 27 when one of the water pumps at the main water tanks broke down after a blackout.

Upon learning of their predicament, HDC immediately sent a maintenance team to the site to check on the situation where they discovered the spoiled water pumps.

However, the pumps could not be replaced then as the new water pumps had to be specially ordered from Peninsular Malaysia.
