DBKU installs 24 CCTVs at strategic spots for public safety

KUCHING: Kuching City North Commission (DBKU) has installed 24 high resolution close-circuit television (CCTV) units on 18-metre high metal poles at strategic locations for public safety.

They are installed at Jalan Khoo Hun Yeang (in front of Hong Leong Bank), Waterfront Kuching (UOB Bank), Cat Statue, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Padungan (near Taman Sri Sarawak and UTC), Waterfront (traffic light post in front of Hilton), Medan Pelita, Lebuh Wayang, India Street, Kubah Ria/FAMA area in front of the T-junction, Fama Car Park (in front of Fama Office building), Jalan Main Bazaar (near the Chinese temple), Pearl Street (near the traffic light /Merdeka Plaza), Jalan P Ramlee (Taman Islam), Jalan Gambir/Esplanade (car park area), Jalan Haji Taha (near AmBank and Bank Negara), Jalan Kulas (in front of SCR), Jalan Satok, Wisma Satok (near McDonald’s), Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce off Jalan Green (near the traffic light), Masja, Jalan Semariang (near the traffic light), Pasar Tamu Satok, Samariang New Township (in front of Fama hawker street) and the DBKU compound area.

These CCTVs are for DBKU and the police to monitor criminal activities, acts of vandalism and to increase the people’s confidence in the services provided by the authorities.
