SEMPORNA: The Semporna Umno division has restructured its committee to further strengthen the division, said Semporna Umno division acting chief, Datuk Seri Nasir Tun Sakaran.

Speaking to reporters after chairing the Semporna Umno division committee meeting yesterday, he said the restructuring was necessary to ensure the division remained strong and relevant.

He added that the restructuring involved the appointment of Datuk Ramlee Marahaban as the division’s new information chief, replacing Datuk Razak Tun Sakaran.

Nasir said Razak was appointed division treasurer, replacing Datuk Mohd Lan Allani, while Mohd Syam Mohd Muksan replaced Rashid Maamun as division secretary.

He was confident that the newly-appointed Semporna Umno division committee which had vast experience in politics could establish a strong working team.

The Senallang state assemblyman also reminded Umno members in Semporna not to be easily influenced by allegations of certain quarters that the Umno division would be dissolved.

“Umno Semporna is still around and strong,” he said.

On the vacant youth chief post for the division, Nasir said it would be decided after receiving  feedback from the Central Umno Youth.

As for the new divisional Wanita head, he said the matter had been forwarded to the State Umno Liaison Committee.

On June 27, Semporna Umno deputy chief Datuk Dr Jaujan Sambakong announced his resignation from the party together with youth and Wanita heads Mohd Aziz Jamman and Manis Muka Dara as well several branch heads.

They made the decision after the Umno Supreme Council suspended vice-president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal who later quit the party.
