KUCHING: Biperoh Association Kuching (PBK) on Saturday night presented 21 students from the community who excelled in their recent public examinations with education incentives.

The recipients comprised seven who excelled in the UPSR, six in PT3 and eight in the SPM examinations. Among the recipients was Barry Shop Atek from Kampung Giam who obtained 10As in his SPM examination last year.

Assistant Minister for Public Health Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, presented the incentives to the students during a thanksgiving dinner held at a restaurant in Siburan.

In his speech, he commended the efforts by PBK in giving incentives to outstanding students each year, adding that such incentives would surely motivate students to study hard.

The Mambong assemblyman also urged community based associations in his constituencies to place education as an important agenda in their programme to further improve the educational level among the younger generation.

“All community based associations should give serious attention on education as excellence in education will ensure better future for the community,” he said.

PBK president Mangan Ngandok said the incentive was one way to recognise the success of those students, adding that the money for the incentives was contributed by Dr Jerip.

Meanwhile Mangan said construction works on the RM5 million Biperoh Centre at Kampung Garung, Jalan Puncak Borneo would start soon and when completed would have a multi-purpose hall, a ‘panggah’ and a longhouse.
