KUCHING: The disciplinary record among auxiliary police personnel in the state remains unblemished with no reports of misconduct received thus far.

State Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department (JPJKK) head SAC Che Yussof Che Ngah said those who received their training at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) here were found to be highly disciplined.

“So far, we have never received any report of misconduct among auxiliary police personnel in Sarawak, which proves that they are of high discipline,” he said when met after officiating at the end of basic training for 208 auxiliary police personnel at Pulapol here yesterday.

This, he added, was all the more reason for government and private agencies in the state to submit their application to establish an auxiliary police force.

Che Yussof revealed that nationwide, 212 agencies had their application to establish an auxiliary police force approved with a total strength of 54,213 personnel.

“Out of the available positions, only slightly over half have been filled so far as there are still 27,058 vacancies in the auxiliary police,” he said.

Yesterday’s ceremony also saw Che Yussof presenting awards to the three best trainees, namely Hu Ling Khang, Hillary Joseph Laek, and Mohd Fazli Maula Ma’lem.

On a separate issue, the JPJKK head revealed that police were currently in the middle of conducting an integrated operation in six districts to curb incidents of crime, particularly house breaking and robberies.

He said the ongoing operation, which began on September 10, was being conducted in Kuching, Padawan, Kota Samarahan, Bau, Lundu, and Serian, and has so far netted 29 individuals for various offences.

“Ten of those nabbed were involved in robbery cases, one for vehicle theft, one for a cheating case, three for house breaking, one for theft in a building, and six for drug-related offences,” said Che Yussof, adding the remaining seven were foreigners detained for offences under the Immigration Act.
