KUCHING: Friends of Sarawak Museum (FoSM) is eager to welcome more willing hands and creative minds to help out with their upcoming heritage projects.
FoSM President Rebecca D’Cruz said that in January next year, they would launch their Three-Year Strategic Plan and to continue their work of the last four years, which consisted, among others, of organising public talks and events.
“Our members also helped document and research information related to the textile museum and Chinese History Museum,” she said, adding her thanks to The Brooke Trust director Jason Desmond Anthony Brooke and his team for creating a new heritage product for Kuching.
D’Cruz was speaking at the Garden Tea Party organised by FoSM, which was held in the inner courtyard of Fort Margherita.
In his brief speech, Brooke said he was comfortable leaving the Brooke Gallery in the capable hands of the local people, after seeing the amount of work and dedication they put into it.
He echoed D’Cruz’s call for more volunteers, adding that FoSM played a very important part in mobilising local support.
FoSM aimed to promote the role of museums in Sarawak’s heritage and provide a platform for interested parties to contribute to museums and heritage
sites.
It also helped provide quality interpretation of museums and their content by way of managing guided programmes, school programmes and public talks.
