KUCHING: MASwings has launched its ‘RM62 Just4U’ promotion, offering up to 95 per cent discounts off all destinations in Sarawak and Sabah.
Travellers should book now until Oct 31 to enjoy the special rates, which are all inclusive for one-way trips. The travelling period should be between Oct 3 and Nov 30 this year.
The offerings under this promotion are subject to certain terms and conditions.
Assistant Minister for Tourism Datuk Lee Kim Shin officiated at the launch of the promotion at Vivacity Megamall here yesterday.
In his remarks, Lee lauded MASwings on its support and commitment towards enhancing the state’s tourism industry.
“I believe this deal is timely as it will help customers plan their trips ahead and also take advantage of the affordable rates. This will automatically benefit our tourism industry.
“Such move by MASwings could work better and give more impact if more initiatives were structured to include affordable packages for travellers to experience Sarawak, which would get more participation from local hotels and service providers.
“We at the ministry hope that there will be more of such collaborations to be introduced in the near future.”
Lee, who is also Assistant Minister for Land and Air Transportation and Safety, pointed out several specific areas that he would like MASwings to address.
These would include increasing flight frequencies, resolving problems related to flight delays and cancellations, enhancing the promotions or special packages on Mulu National Park, acquiring new aircraft and going commercial outside of Sarawak and Sabah.
Meanwhile, MASwings interim chief executive officer Aminuddin Zakaria said the irresistible promotion reflected the carrier’s continuous effort in offering value-for-money airfares in and out of Sarawak.
“This promotion is part of MASwings’ ongoing initiatives towards supporting local tourism and the growing demands from our loyal customers.”
Aminuddin stressed that MASwings would continue to make its presence visible through a number of plans, including the strengthening of its operational and business capability to serve customers in Sarawak and Sabah.
“For the record, we operate in and out of 22 domestic stations, with 16 destinations within Sarawak itself. This reflects that almost 60 per cent of MASwings’ yearly capacity is related to Sarawak destinations.
“From overall MASwings yearly seat capacity, 36 per cent are offered for travellers within Sarawak, 10 per cent offered for operations covering rural air services while the balance is for crossing flights to Sabah. This shows that MASwings business operations rely heavily on Sarawak.”
Aminuddin said MASwings was also celebrating its ninth anniversary this year, and he attributed the success of the rural air carrier to good partnership with and support from the tourism ministry and other industry players.
“Our Sarawak and Sabah agents have been very supportive of MASwings as they are the most efficient distribution channel with widee reach to customers. We look forward to having their continuous support in the ‘RM62 Just4U’ promotion,” he said.
