MA63: PBS to work with Sarawak

KENINGAU: Should a motion be tabled in Parliament to restore lost provisions in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), Parti Bersatu Sabah is ready to co-sponsor such motion with Sarawak parties.

Its executive deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili, in disclosing this, said the move was to ensure that the territorial integrity of the Malaysian nation is preserved.

Stressing that defence of state rights, as contained in MA63, is basic to PBS’ struggle, he said it was also part of the party’s constitution.

“PBS never wavered from that struggle. We have been consistent (in our struggle) since the party’s inception 31 years ago,” said Ongkili, who is also the Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister.

Speaking to hundreds of participants attending the PBS Leadership Seminar here, yesterday, he noted that other parties were just joining the bandwagon, preaching on their struggles to restore Sabah and Sabahans’ rights.

“We will network with Sarawak, especially on what are the actions required legally to restore lost safeguards,” he said.

PBS is currently going around for its Leadership Seminar, where Ongkili will also speak on his paper entitled ‘Understanding MA63’, among other papers presented and discussed.
