KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud conferred the state award Darjah Utama Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Kenyalang Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Bintang Kenyalang (DP), which carries the title Datuk Patinggi, on
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi yesterday.
Zahid, 63, received the award during a special investiture ceremony at the Astana here.
He holds a doctorate degree in communication sciences.
Zahid previously held posts including Minister of Defence, Deputy Minister of Information and Communication (2006) and Deputy Minister of Tourism (2004).
He is currently also Minister of Home Affairs.
