KUCHING: PKR will set up counters this weekend to enable the public to update their personal particulars for 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) application.

Batu Lintang assemblyman and state PKR vice chairman See Chee How said the party members would be setting up the counters at Poh Kwong Park starting at 8.30am on Saturday and Stutong Community Market from 8am on Sunday.

“This time, the period for the BR1M recipients to update their personal particulars is very short that is only one month and they want all recipients to update their personal particulars.

“We hope to cover more people so that people will not be disappointed later when they do not receive their BR1M, thinking that it (the application) is automatic since they have already been recipients over the last few years,” he said in a press conference here yesterday.

See took the opportunity to suggest to the government to look into assisting the BR1M recipients in the rural areas.

“Perhaps, the government should instruct the district office, sub-district office or even set up booths in the rural centres to assist those people in rural areas to update their information.

“Those are the people who will need more of such assistance as it will not be easy for them to do the updating online.”

He was hopeful that the government would step up its efforts in deploying government machineries to help the rural community in updating their personal particulars for BR1M application for the next half month.

The closing date for the public to update their personal particulars for BR1M is Dec 31, this year.
