MUKAH: A concrete wharf which is scheduled to be completed by November is expected to make life more convenient for 2,500 residents in Sungai Passin.

Daro assemblyman Safiee Ahmad said this when he inspected the site recently.

The wharf which is located about 60km from Daro town costs about RM1.5 million and will make travel easier for the residents of six longhouses nearby. There are also a school and a clinic near the site.

“We visited the site with Public Works Department engineers and the Matu District Officer on Dec 29,” he said.

He added that the upgrading of the wharf is necessary because the wooden jetty could not accommodate the daily needs of local residents who depend on river transport.

He said this was one of a number of development projects in his constituency this year. The focus will be on improving infrastructure facilities in Daro.
