KUCHING: Kenyalang Park Chung Fatt Tang Moral Uplifting Association here received donations in the form of 96 five-kg packs of rice and 96 one-kg packs of sugar from 13 Good Samaritans recently.

Representing the donors was voluntary social worker Lim Chee Haw who handed over the donations. He said the donations were meant to help the association organise a charity event tomorrow (Jan 14).

“Around 32 families will receive these items during the event,” he added.

The donors were Dato Seri Chan Leng Sam, 38 Food Street Sdn Bhd, Datuk Tan Kia Heng, Chang Pei Foon, Chang Pei Hong, Chin Siew Ling, Chin Siew Moi, Gan Sze Yin, Lai Shiak Lee, Chang Pei Siang, Foo Swee Yean, Lim Syn Hui and Lau Yen Siew.

Ng Kok Yen and Voon Lee Keong who are the association’s chairman and treasurer respectively received the donations from Lim on the association’s behalf.

Lim is doing all this for charity and will help anyone from poor and needy backgrounds regardless of religion or race.

“Most of the people who come to me want to donate to society due to religious obligations. To distribute these donations from the Good Samaritans, I will look for those who truly deserve to be helped like needy members of society,” he said.

On another matter, Lim said he can also help poor non-Muslim families acquire coffins during times of bereavement. These coffins are purchased through donations. For more information, contact Lim at 082-248153 or 016-8070388.

Those who want to donate or give back to society but remain anonymous may also contact Lim. He does not have any internet or social media accounts nor has he ever appointed any representatives to collect donations on his behalf.

There have been cases of people with newspaper cuttings of his works going around claiming to be his representatives.
