BELURAN: A man was burnt to death in a fire that also destroyed his wooden house at Kampung Kubambangan Paitan on Sunday.
The charred remains firemen found at the location were identified as that of Ritaudin Ghapur, 31.
According to a spokesperson of the Fire and Rescue Department, a distress call was received by the Kinabatangan fire station at 7.42pm and the firemen only arrived at the scene located 195 kilometres away, at 11.02pm.
The house, he added, along with two vehicles, a Honda Accord and and Proton Saga Aeroback, were already completely burnt by the time the fire and rescue team arrived.
“The fire was brought under control by 11.20pm and the operation ended at 11.58pm,” he said.
