Understand roles of military, PTDs urged

KOTA SAMARAHAN: Administrative and Diplomatic officers (PTD) have been urged to be well versed on the role of the military in nation building and security.

Commander of the 1st Malaysian Infantry Division Major General Datuk Stephen Mundaw said as civil servants, it was important for them to fully understand the functions of the military in order for them to serve the nation better.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of a National Integration Module and Self Strengthening course for PTD officers held at Muara Tuang Camp, Kota Samarahan here, Mundaw suggested that participants recognise all the branches of the military in the country as it was vital knowledge for them as civil servants.

“Military also plays a role and contributes towards nation building. I hope the training you have here is enough to make all of you understand what the military means to the nation,”

A total of 61 officers currently undergoing training with the National Institute of Public Administration (Intan) participated in the two-week course held primarily at the Survival Village in Muara Tuang Camp.

The course was specially designed by Intan to produce administrative and diplomatic officers (PTD) with high level of integrity and discipline.

Speaking to The Borneo Post after the ceremony Assistant commanding officer Major Saiful Fitri Mat Rashid who is head trainer of the module commented that the training would enable PTDs to build a high level of discipline and integrity which could be applied in their careers.

“This course was tailored to prepare them in terms of leadership and also to test their limits. A total of 27 trainers who are army officers were involved in this module cum training,” he said.

Third Brigade commander Brigadier General Mohd Bustaman Mat Zin was also present during the ceremony.
