KUCHING: A post mortem conducted on the bodies of the three victims in the murder-cum-arson at Kampung Tumu in Matang at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) ended yesterday.

Padawan District police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said the two-day procedure, performed by doctors Norliza Ibrahim of SGH and Norhayati Jaafar of Hospital Kuala Lumpur, was only able to establish the cause-of-death for one of the three victims.

“The results of the post mortem determined that Chermi Ijau @ Noraini Abdullah died from exsanguination due to sharp force trauma.

“However, the cause of death of Joe Steveny Gindi @ Mohd Joe Abdullah and Mohd Daud Abdullah was not ascertained as their bodies were totally charred,” he said when contacted yesterday.

A 42-year-old divorcee from Simunjan is currently under a seven-day remand over the incident as police seek to establish a motive for the murders, as well as to conduct checks on the suspect’s medical and mental history.
