Overzealous man nabbed for ‘protecting his wife’

KUCHING: A man  suspected to have  voluntarily caused hurt to another man at Kampung Gita Laut here was arrested on Sunday.

According to sources,  the accused was protecting  his wife from being  attacked by the victim, when he caused hurt to the victim with a sharp weapon in the 6pm incident.

Earlier, the victim  attempted to meet his girlfriend but he was stopped by the accused’s wife, who is his girlfriend’s sister.

“The victim and his  girlfriend were said to have man-handled the suspect’s  wife by pushing her several times, and the suspect quarrelled with them before a fight broke out.”

“He used a sharp  weapon to slash the  victim’s head,” the sources  said, adding that the  incident was heard by their neighbour who rushed to the house to break up the altercation.

It was learnt that a police team went to the house to pick up the suspect around 7pm while the victim was sent to Sarawak General Hospital for treatment.

In a separate incident,   two sisters from Sabah  lost more than RM10,000 in  cash and properties to  burglars at their rented house at Taman Hui Sing on Sunday night.

In the 10.40pm incident, another tenant informed one of the sisters that the back door of the house was found forced open.

“The victim and his  sister discovered their  room had been rummaged through and branded items including jewellery, a watch and laptop were stolen,” sources said.

A police report was  lodged and police are investigating.
