SIBU: Assistant Minister for Science Research and Biotechnology Dr Annuar Rapaee has promised the seven families made homeless after fire razed their houses at Kampung Bahagia Jaya here early Monday his Nangka service centre would help them get a rented home if they need accommodation for the next six months.

“I will also talk to Housing Development Corporation if the victims require temporary accommodation at people’s housing project in Rantau Panjang,” he said.

Dr Annuar who met with the fire victims on Monday morning presented initial cash assistance of RM550 to each of them.

He noted that the Civil Defence Force, Fire and Rescue Department, Tabung Baitulmal and Welfare Department were also providing assistance to the fire victims who were putting up with relatives.

Meanwhile, well-wishers who want to donate to the fire victims can do so at Darul Halim Mosque in Kampung Bahagia Jaya.

“The mosque and Kampung Bahagia Jaya Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) have set up a special fund for the victims,” Dr Annuar said.
