180 locations target for dengue research in Tabalong

TANJUNG, South Kalimantan: A total of 180 locations in 12 sub-districts in Tabalong, South Kalimantan, are subjected to dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) research, AntaranewsKalsel reported.

Head of Communicable Disease Control of Tabalong Health Agency Akhmad Rivai in Tanjung on Wednesday said the research regarding dengue mosquito resistance, behavior, as well as populations.

“The research is conducted by Environmental Health Engineering and Disease Control Hall of Banjarbaru (BBTKLPP) who cooperate with each community health center (puskesmas),” said Rivai.

The locations as the target of research and observation of larvae are endemic diseases caused by aedes aegypti mosquito.

The most northern districts in South Kalimantan province is an endemic areas of dengue disease following a high number of patients each year.

Data at the local Health Agency last year showed the number of dengue fever patients reached 579 people with most cases in urban areas, such as the Mabuun Urban Village.
