PENAMPANG: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Yahya Hussin has urged the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) to reach greater levels of efficiency for the future development of Sabah.

Yahya noted that for the last 50 years, the DID has done a lot to help the government bring development to the people in Sabah.

“Any development plan given by the government had been implemented well (by the DID), he said in extolling the DID.

“Although many may think that the 50 years of success had been optimal, I feel the department would need to work more efficiently in order to continue with the success,” Yahya said when launching the DID Sabah 50th Anniversary Golden Jubilee Logo here yesterday.

Yahya said the newly launched logo is testament to the DID’s high values and dedication of doing more for the people.

“Hopefully, the positive attitude in every situation and spirit of serving the country will always be the employees’ commitment,” said the Deputy Chief Minister at the Penampang Sports Complex.

Yahya, who is also Agriculture and Food Industry Minister, urged the department to be proactive, decisive and caring when serving the people.

At the ceremony, Yahya presented prizes to the winners of the H20 Run 2017. The men’s category champion was Wincentbert Latius while the women’s category was won by Hyenie Roslin.

Winners of the DID Golden Jubilee logo creator competition were Jinuin Victor and Abd Rahim Sanih, while the montage creator title went to Lordexter Saimin.

Assistant Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Datuk Sairin Karno, Malaysia DID director general Dato’ Sri Ir. Zulkefli Hassan and Sabah DID director Ir Ag Yahiya Kahar were also present at the ceremony.
