Police personnel confront the unlicensed lottery vendor at his kiosk.
KUCHING: An unlicensed lottery vendor was nabbed by police raiding a coffee shop at Jalan Sungai Maong Hilir over the weekend.
The 31-year-old male was detained around 6pm on Sunday after district police headquarters here was tipped off by members of the public.
District police chief ACP Abang Ahmad Abang Julai who confirmed the arrest when contacted yesterday, said items such as cash, a mobile phone and betting slips were seized.
“The vendor was operating from a kiosk at the coffee shop. The paper slips seized from him contained numbers that were believed to be bets placed by punters,” he said.
The suspect is being investigated under Section 9(1) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953.
