PUTRAJAYA: The new price of coarse granulated white sugar effective March 1 is RM2.95 per kg, the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry announced in a statement yesterday.
According to the statement, the price increase was due to the hike in the price of world raw sugar.
“However, the government is still controlling the price to the very minimum compared to the price in other countries,” said the ministry.
Previously, the price of coarse granulated white sugar was RM2.84 per kg.
The statement said the last time the sugar price was updated was on Oct 25, 2013. — Bernama
