KUCHING: United People’s Party (UPP) will reshuffle its Youth Central Committee for the new term of 2018 – 2020.

According to Youth chief Dr Johnical Rayong Ngipa, the reshuffle, to be discussed at the coming Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting, is to strengthen Youth leaders to be more effective in serving the community.

“This (reshuffle) is in line with UPP Central Leaders’ aspiration to train more youths to become better in serving the community and prepare them to take up leadership responsibility in the future,” Rayong told a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Jalan Pending here after chairing the party’s Youth Central meeting.

Rayong, who is Engkilili assemblyman, said Youth Central members had been allocated responsibilities for the coming parliamentary election.

He urged all youth members from the 26 branches across the state to be prepared to be mobilised in order to campaign for Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates.

“We will work together with other BN parties and help all the candidates to ensure the state continues to be a fixed deposit for BN,” he assured.

He said Youth Central members were in unison to support the party’s president Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh in leading it to work closely with other BN component parties for the stability and development of the state.

On the acquisition of Bakun Dam, Rayong said it was a wise and strategic move by Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg to look after the interest of Sarawakians and regain autonomy of the state’s resources.

“UPP Youth Central would like to thank and congratulate the chief minister for sealing the deal on the acquisition of Bakun Dam with the federal government,” he said, adding that the party’s youth members unanimously support Abang Johari and his development agenda for the state, the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, and the national transformation programme for the country to advance.

The meeting also discussed community services of the youth branches to serve the people continuously, not only during election.

The party will hold its annual delegates conference on May 12 this year.
